This is a single from swedish pop/shoegaze band Bolywool, there are some downloads left too. I hope they will be more noticed when their next album is released in March, they really deserve to be.

Zeit is a comparatively new Swedish band - this is their debut album. Best thing that has happened today was when I realized that they are from Gothenburg, where I’m moving in September. The autumn seems so much brighter now. This is music I will love to see live. Simple but with suspense and emotion. When only listening to the album though I cant help feeling that occasional sounds from outside the beaten range would have made it more interesting. But hopefully you’ve already opened the link and played the music and my description is superfluous and I’ll go read something instead of babbling.

This is the one in the beginning of “Heaven’s on Fire”. I didn’t have time to search through the movie to find it in it’s context, but it’s from “1991: the year punk broke” (it is also on youtube). I like that one better than style wars of course since Sonic Youth is unarguably one of the coolest bands ever.

Have you listened to the sources of the quotes in Radio dept.’s Clinging to a scheme? This is the one in “Never Follow Suit”. Start watching at 05:30. Or watch all of it, it’s a good documentary. I love the way this guy and also his mum talks. been watching it over and over

Resplandor released an excellent, very shoegaze, album called Pleamar in 2008. It was even produced by Robin Guthrie (Cocteau Twins) (!). Hope you’ll like it. I do, a lot.

Its winter and my iPod refuses to start as it always does when its less than zero degrees celsius. Its awful in the dark mornings when you wait for the tram/bus/water to boil filled with longing for that perfect JAMC-song. Still its a good thing to not always listen to music passively I guess.

If anyone doesn’t follow fuckyeahshoegazer, or just missed a post, I need to recommend this. It’s a another link leading to a really good mix of not that known shoegaze. Drop Nineteens is a standing recommendation but a new might be favorite is Heavïness, a Swedish band which is also on Spotify.

This is Little Riot by broken little sister. Memories, Violet & Demons is their album which is released in Japan in two days. They are the kind of band who describe themselves with five different genres, this is is one of their more shoegazy songs (of the ones available on Soundcloud). They sometimes tend towards electronica (horror), but they ultimately aim at making music which floats, and I think it does.

I wich I could capture it better, but just for your information today is probably the most beautiful day of this autumn in Lund. Besides being perfect for Just For a Day, it turned out to go well with Air Formation. Perhaps I am really starting to forgive them for using too much keyboards.

My best friends sometimes accuse me of listening to what they call ‘background music’. Of course, as we all know, this is them completely missing the important things in shoegaze music, but there is also some truth in it. These walls of sounds do evolve into your thoughts not always demanding active listening. Awake through the long dark hours of Swedish autumn, studying medieval monarchs, in my headphones is Distressor EP by Whirl. Coming through as a sadness and fatal strength in the betrayal of Richard III.

I had planned to make this a www-post with contemporary bands: Whirl and Women and a third w but this stupid band Women with that lovely album Public Strain seem to be rather dissolved and that concert I was going to very cancelled. So I give up. The good thing about listening to 90s bands is that they wont disappoint you. Anyway you should listen to both Whirl and Women, the latter being perhaps less suited for studies and better for walks and coffee pauses and such things.

Finding of the day. Secret Shine’s album Untouched from 1993 - a lot of MBV, but something else too. Its not like i’ve listened to them for a long time but so far “so close I come” is best track. Sounds like a pop melody stretched out and echoed from a sunken city.

edit: There is a reason for counting down to christmas, and the reason is this. Wonderful!

this is not much of a video obviously but i just needed to share this wonderful song! i love how this basically very classic shoegaze song is vitalized by that psychedelic guidar and 60’s-like singing. my sunday morning recovering list is this alternated with velvet underground and you should try it too
